Information about Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor
Mario is one of the biggest video game (and pop-culture) sensations of all time, but the Paper Mario series takes our plumber in a different direction. In the Paper Mario games standard jump-and-run platforming is traded out for RPG gaming, a focus on characters and character interaction, and a hilarious, off-kilter take on the world of Mario.
The Paper Mario series began in 2000 with Paper Mario 64. Released on the Nintendo 64, this game served as a sort of spiritual sequel to Super Mario RPG (which originally appeared on the Super Nintendo). While Super Mario RPG pushed the envelope with 3D graphics (or as close of an approximation as the Super Nintendo could muster), Paper Mario 64 made things deliberately flat and featured a 2-dimensional hero in a 3-dimensional world.
Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor/Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door followed in the footsteps of Paper Mario 64, pushing its unique visual style even further and refining the RPG elements of the first installment.
Personally, Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor/Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is my favorite game in the series. If I remember correctly, this is actually the first Paper Mario I ever played, and I instantly fell in love with its characters, sense of humor and simplified yet engaging turn-based combat. This is the first time that I've ever played Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor in German, and I greatly enjoyed the experience. Although there are occasional jokes that I miss from the English version, this translation is fantastic, and it was a lot of fun to relive this game in a new language.
I hope you enjoy watching Learn German Paper Mario: Die Legende vom Äonentor as much as I enjoyed making it. The game remains a highpoint of both the Paper Mario series and the Gamecube, and it absolutely still holds up today!
