Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (DC) Retrospective | Not Showing Its Age
Crossovers have always been something that gets people hyped. I'm sure it goes back to the medieval days where people's favorite knights would get the black plague the neighboring village's fairest maiden. Mark Twain apparently made the first media crossover in 1885, when Tom Sawyer appeared in the adve- ok this is lame but even in the 1940s Universal was having its monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein meet up and… well usually they'd kinda just hang out but that's also not the point. It was inevitable that games would eventually catch on and start pulling this sh*t- and one of the earliest games to get this treatment was the vs. Capcom series. The first game in the series was actually X-Men vs. Street Fighter in 1996- X-Men used to be a huge deal before Fox took over and made X-Men Origins Wolverine. Marvel vs. Capcom would become the flagship of the series- which has continued to this day- but we don't really talk about that. The official start of the series is today's topic- 1998's Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes- originally an Arcade Release, and shortly after ported to Dreamcast and Playstation, then with a port to X360 and PS3 as part of the Marvel vs. Capcom Origins Collection. The title of this game is kinda weird- it implies that Capcom's characters are Super Heroes but like- the Capcom side has a demon that kills people by eating their c*m and a russian- definitely not people I'd wanna meet in a dark alley- ok well, i mean. Like I'm not that attached to life but it's kinda hard to resist that
