★ Mass Effect 3 ▪ Insanity Infiltrator Guide - Priority: Mars ▪ Prothean Archives
Anyways, since I'm not doing commentary anymore, I'll just put my tips here, and add annotations later on:
When using the Infiltrator class, use Tactical Cloak as much as possible. You can use a power while Tactical Cloak is active and it benefits from Cloak's damage bonus, so there's never a downside to using it other than the fact that it stops your shield recharge.
Possibly the most important thing to note about the Infiltrator class is that you can afford to have significantly-heavier weapon setups than other classes and not be punished for it because of the way Tactical Cloak works. Tactical Cloak can quicken your power recharge speed depending on how early you break out of it with an attack. If you only use other powers while cloaked and always break Cloak quickly, you won't notice too much of a slowdown on your power recharge even when carrying heavier weapons.
Typically, when playing an Infiltrator, people will go for either snipers or shotguns; the former being effective because the Infiltrator has a lot of bonuses related to them; the latter because Tactical Cloak makes it easier to get within effective shotgunning distance, and it synergizes well with any weapon that does heavy damage with each hit.
Either way, always prioritize getting the Damage bonus at rank 4 for Tactical Cloak ASAP.
If you're going for a standard sniper build, put 1 point in Operational Mastery, and go for Cloak's Sniper Damage upgrade at rank 6, too. In addition; since a certain game mechanic (known as the "shield gate") prevents your sniper shots from bleeding over into an enemy's health on Insanity when striking their shield or barrier, I'd highly recommend taking Energy Drain as your bonus power so you can strip their defenses before making your shot.
Also, I'd recommend saving up for the Black Widow; you should be able to buy and fully-upgrade it somewhere between Sur'kesh and the Citadel missions. The Black Widow is comparable to (or possibly even slightly more powerful than) the Mantis in terms of damage per shot, while giving you more ammo to work with (both spare and per clip) and an innate piercing ability. Definitely worth the money.
Despite being semi-auto (which isn't ideal for Tactical Cloak), the Raptor isn't too bad, either.
If you're going for a shotgun build, there's little point in investing in Tactical Cloak beyond rank 4, so that frees up some points. Shotguns aren't affected nearly as badly by shield-gating as sniper rifles are, so you don't need Energy Drain so much, either.
I would still recommend using the Mantis until you at least get the Eviscerator, though (or you can wait two more missions beyond that for the Claymore). The Katana just doesn't cut it (no pun intended).
Personally, I've found investing in Incinerate and having at least one point in Disruptor Ammo (or just take Ashley and have her use the squad version) to be pretty effective. Cloak, shoot, Incinerate, keep shooting until cloak disperses, repeat. With Disruptor Ammo, your shots should be setting up Tech Bursts quite frequently for even more damage.
With Sabotage, Incinerate, and Energy Drain, you can also just ignore weapons and play like an Engineer with Cloak.
Regarding squadmates; Liara works great, as Singularity drags enemies out of cover and Stasis allows you to line up head shots more easily.
