The Suite Noel (Eng. Christmas Suite) was created from some ideas I had while preparing for Christmas Eve. It depicts three images of shepherds in the field. A pastorale, which hovers between tranquility and simple joy, a mediation that casts a romantic view of the night, and a toccata that vividly portrays the announcement of the angelic chorus. The song “Silent Night” always underlies the movements. Sometimes more obvious, sometimes more hidden, it is constantly present.
Die Suite Noel (dt. Weihnachtssuite) entstand aus einigen Ideen die ich während der Vorbereitung zu Heiligabend hatte. Sie zeichnet drei Bilder der Hirten auf dem Felde. Eine Pastorale, welche zwischen Ruhe und einfacher Freude schwebt, eine Mediation die einen romantischen Blick auf die Nacht wirft, sowie eine Toccata, welche die Verkündung des Engelschores bildhaft schildert. Immer liegt das Lied “Stille Nacht” den Sätzen zugrunde. Mal deutlicher, mal versteckter ist es stetig präsent.
