Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Colonel (LC2-SW) - 05 - THAT Minigame
I didn't even get to the dungeon.
This thing controls like absolute trash. It would be fine if the rotation was actually properly responsive -- which it's not. I tested many times, my d-pad and left analog stick both work PERFECTLY FINE on the field. THIS is the mini-game that actually doesn't work. Not any of the admittedly tedious and pointless things in BN4. This one. It would be mostly easy (RNG-related problems sometimes causing you to job at 40 because the positioning borders on impossible), and just perfectly fine, if that part actually worked. The B button presses are timed out fine. Lan's swing is not super fast, but it's workable. You have enough time to react even if you tend to get a little bit jittery late on just because it gets tight, but it's perfectly surmountable.
When it pissing works.
I mentioned that I hate this thing in the TREZ Discord, by the way, and some people said it's harder on a keyboard. This is probably true (though if you're on a keyboard, you're clearly on an emulator, so you can do stuff to get past it more easily, and no, just this once, I don't consider it cheating or any more or less impressive to pause between each hit and save state or whatever; this clearly needed more testing on Capcom's part, and "cheating" is just an act of fairness), but I think I would find using a keyboard significantly more comfortable here, because my thumb would not then have a hard-ass D-pad digging into it for two goddamn hours, which is extremely painful (even if it left no lasting damage -- it didn't even leave a mark) and makes this even less fun. On original hardware, I expect this sucks about as much (with the player at least having access to the GBA SP (my beloved), which has a D-pad which is very comfortable for stuff like this).
Again: a perfectly fine minigame ruined by absolute trash-tier programming. I'm seriously reconsidering thinking this game is better than BN4. It seems like many of the flaws of a main playthrough of BN4 are done WORSE in this game. Doesn't matter how much I love liberation missions. This made me almost quit the game. And I didn't do THAT during BN4, even though Duo's boss fight is full of bullshit due to most of the library not working on him.
