Mega Man Neo (Legends) | E3 1997 Early Footage | Next Generation Magazine Sept. 1997
Turn on [CC] for my commentary. YouTube is disbanding annotations, so now I've converted them into closed captions.
This is old early alpha gameplay footage of Mega Man Neo, or what would much later be known as Mega Man Legends.
This footage features very many several key differences that indicate just how early into production this 3D Mega Man title was when it was first announced in mid-1997 at the E3 Expo in 1997. This video features annotations by me that go over said differences, which include a different Feldynaught boss model, a totally different Downtown layout, and a completely different HUD that looks nothing familiar to the final version's gameplay.
I've recently rediscovered an ISO of a CD-ROM called the Next Generation September 1997. These were discs that were distributed into copies of Next Generation Magazine when you bought the magazine at the time. Included in the disc were lots of (low-quality 320x240) videos of PlayStation, Sega Saturn, & Nintendo 64 games that were featured at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) on June 1997 in Atlantic, Georgia.
This Mega Man Neo video was among them, and it has been edited to correct the contrast issues the video had when it was first produced. It looked terrible at first, view this comparison: http://twitpic.com/9d1x6j It also has some really bland generic music, what's up with it?
