MGS2: Tanker (European Extreme Caution%) in 6:32 [PB]
The long-awaited(?) sequel.
TLDR of the last video: the full game version of Caution% Euro Extreme is appearing (probably - it's a donation incentive) at AGDQ 2024, so me and dlimes13 have been working on strategies for it.
I mentioned last time that the USP suppressor was a bad route choice in hindsight, so this run corrects that mistake with the some alternative strategies for areas like Engine Room.
At the same time, I decided to start treating this like a proper run, and do some risky things that you definitely won't be seeing Limes doing at GDQ. They create some pretty significant timesave though.
A big thing to understand when running Caution% (or dealing with the assault team in general) is that the two types of soldiers are very different in how they interact with you. Regular guards will take hold ups easily, and call in an alert after attacking you (and often after running away). The assault team is much more aggressive vs hold ups (especially when they can see you) and don't need to call in alerts at all - you only have a fraction of a second to deal with them after they see you.
This difference can be seen in two areas early on in this run:
In the first Lounge, one assault soldier is taken out, then I manipulate the other assault soldier to look away by actually allowing the regular guard to see me and start calling an alert.
Then in Deck D, it's fine for the regular guards on the left and right to see me, but I need to tranq-roll the assault soldier in the middle the moment he turns.
Also I've been playing around with my timer layout - the green T indicating that turbo is switched on is gone, and in its place is a more subtle red ❗ in the same area.
