While these simulators may look and feel similar in nature, 2024 has many highly worthwhile performance and visual upgrades throughout that shows how far Asobo Studios is truly pushing for realism. Some notable graphic upgrades include:

F18E: better model, engine, physics, and maneuvering air jettison.
Ground details like cliff faces, dynamic grass and trees, photogrammetry for Grand Canyon, and more updated imagery
Particle effects revamped, especially on engines
Sky box, sun, and moon rendered more true to life

I have also separated the audio channels for 2024 on the left and 2020 on the right.

Note that my route in 2020 ended up different and slower than 2024 due to no pylon guides of course. However I tried keeping true to 2024 as much as I could to be as accurate as possible. Even though I ended up around 2 seconds slower, I was more comfortable with the physics flying in 2020 since I had my joystick curves and full compatibility with my controllers, but 2024 is supposedly has more accurate physics.
