Mighty No. 9 is the spiritual successor to the Mega Man series, produced by the man himself, Keiji Inafune. This beta version consists of three playable levels + bosses. The beta is only available to certain backer tiers of the project. You can find more information about the project here:

I haven't read/seen too much regarding this game because I want to wait until the final game is ready. From what I've experienced so far, it seems to heavily emphasize using the dash mechanic.
When an enemy takes enough damage, it becomes destabilized. Dashing into an enemy in this state will allow you to absorb them. If you absorb them quick enough, you get 100% Xel (which will be used for abilities in the game.) The longer you wait to absorb them, the less percent you get. You can chain together multiple enemies to increase your combo. Certain enemies also give you temporary boosts when absorbed.
This mechanic is also used for boss fights, but with a twist. When a boss is destabilized, it will begin to refill its energy if you don't absorb them. This is the only way to actually "damage" the boss.
There are currently some issues with the game that will need to be addressed, but based on this beta, it looks really promising.
