Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! (HQ Remake) - Opponent Intros
0:00 - 0:08 - Glass Joe
0:08 - 0:16 - Piston Honda (aka Piston Hondo)
0:16 - 0:24 - Don Flamenco
0:24 - 0:32 - King Hippo
0:32 - 0:37 - Von Kaiser / Great Tiger (Round 2) / Super Macho Man/
0:37 - 0:46 - Soda Popinski
Some of the fighter's themes do not appear here because some of the fighters didn't have theme songs. Super Macho Man reused Von Kaiser's theme. Sandman, Great Tiger, and Mike Tyson don't have themes at all. The reason why is most certainly because of cartridge size limitations. Why some got left out is completely arbitrary. Certainly, the stereotypes in this game border on racist/insensitive.
Trivia:
Soda Popinksi was originally called Vodka Drunkenski. In later versions Piston Honda became Piston HondO and Mike Tyson became Mr. Dream (they let the license expire due to his loss against James "Buster" Douglas). Oh, and Little Mac was little because the NES couldn't do the wireframe see-through boxer from the arcade. They made Mac small so you could just see over his little head. Von Kaiser's theme is Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries". Piston Honda's theme is "Sakura"
Here's perhaps the world's only Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! Symphony. Let me know how I did in the comments and don't forget to subscribe for more 8-bit awesome!
