One might say that this is just a Minecraft rip off game, and you might be right. At the same time you are totally incorrect...
Vintage Story is game that has been out on early release for awhile. To be honest, I had not heard about this game before until about a month ago or so. Don't ask me how I heard about it, cause I have no clue to be honest. It is not available on steam as of yet, but instead you must go to their website (https://www.vintagestory.at/) to buy and DL the game. Its is quite the bargain I must say! Think it was less then 20 bucks with taxes and all of that fun stuff. Let's say about the cost of a dinner at your favorite sit down restaurant. So not a bad price!
The game itself may look and feel like Minecraft, but once you are inside it has a completely different feel. To start, it is a game based on Homesteading and the realism of surviving in the wilderness. You must build and collect everyone you need to survive. And by build.... I mean BUILD.
For a quick example, to make a stone axe you must locate a few stone chunks, take said chunks and place them on the ground. Now you must knead that stone into a shape of a axe head. Find a stick in order to become the handle and now you have a stone axe.
Metal tools require things such a mold made from clay and baked in a Pit Kiln. Metal must be smelted and either poured into molds, or beaten on an anvil into shape!
With all that being said, the game has quickly become a favorite of mine. Not because it is like Minecraft (Which I am not the biggest fan of), but due to the fact it creates a sense of realism that allows someone to escape reality to a much Cinpler time of the olden days, working and living on the land. It really does make you feel better after a hard stressful day at work.
