The final village quest in the damn game, Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian.

This is by far the hardest quest in the village and the quest info hints at the unexceptional. The rewards are superbly big, the entry fee is HUGE and you are pitted against these tough monsters SIMULTANEOUSLY with nowhere to hide! The only way to escape the situation is either by unconsciousness or Farcaster.

This quest is so ass I'll lay down my gameplan here.

1) Get a weapon that does great damage. My Ogre Tusk - Lance excels at that department (for what I've got). Sword and Shield with thunder element also serves extremely well.
Also get some real armor, preferrably something with Yian Garuga and / or armor that requires high rank ore from the farm. These wyverns know their damage output and you're going to need every bit of defense you can get.

It doesn't hurt to have Speed Sharpening or Speed Eating, but it is unlikely you'll have these skills without the help of Guild quests.

Also, get 150 HP. Don't even think about going into this one with any less.

2) Then comes the items. Get everything what I've got here plus the supplies of your choice. You will have to combine more (Mega) Potions, Flashes and get the rest of the supplies eventually so take a Farcaster with you. Use it only if the situation heats up too much for your liking. Just don't expect to be able to heal at the bed - it's not there.

Mega Juices will provide invaluable help, especially if you have a weapon you can block with.

3) Gold Rathian rarely flies, so take it out first. Throw a Flash Bomb and make sure you blind both wyverns so Rathalos cannot interfere with your G. Rathian killing.

Even if you just flash the Rathalos, it's alright but there's a risk that Rathian starts running around making it much harder to deal damage consistently. The point is that Rathalos must interfere as little as possible.

Always pay attention to what BOTH of the monsters are doing and act accordingly. Sometimes S. Rathalos likes to do the "world tour" flight so it's an ideal window to go through. Also whenever Rathalos is mid-air go beneath it, it'll save you the trouble of getting fireball'd or poisoned & stunned.

4) When G. Rathian eventually dies (or gets captured), you should still have some Potions left. It doesn't matter if you have run out of Mega Juices, Knifes and the like, but as long as you can heal, regain stamina and sharpen your weapon you've got what it takes to take out the Rathalos. Combine more Potions and get back in the game.

In my case the G. Rath died at around 17-minute mark so this meant 33 minutes to play with S. Rath, more than enough to slay it.

If you can, always hit to the head. The Lance was very powerful in this one and you could see heads break in seconds.

The Yian Garuga grind was worth it, the armor proved to be invaluable as well. This quest was hard as hell, but doable. You just have to get everything right and not have your healing items run out while both monsters being alive.
