The garden strawberry (or simply strawberry; Fragaria × ananassa) is a widely grown hybrid species of the genus Fragaria, collectively known as the strawberries, which are cultivated worldwide for their fruit. The fruit is widely appreciated for its characteristic aroma, bright red color, juicy texture, and sweetness. It is consumed in large quantities, either fresh or in such prepared foods as jam, juice, pies, ice cream, milkshakes, and chocolates. Artificial strawberry flavorings and aromas are also widely used in products such as candy, soap, lip gloss, perfume, and many others.
The garden strawberry was first bred in Brittany, France, in the 1750s via a cross of Fragaria virginiana from eastern North America and Fragaria chiloensis, which was brought from Chile by Amédée-François Frézier in 1714.[2] Cultivars of Fragaria × ananassa have replaced, in commercial production, the woodland strawberry (Fragaria vesca), which was the first strawberry species cultivated in the early 17th century.
The strawberry is not, from a botanical point of view, a berry. Technically, it is an aggregate accessory fruit, meaning that the fleshy part is derived not from the plant's ovaries but from the receptacle that holds the ovaries.[4] Each apparent "seed" (achene) on the outside of the fruit is actually one of the ovaries of the flower, with a seed inside it.
In 2019, world production of strawberries was nine million tonnes, led by China with 40% of the total.

Morango (Fragaria × ananassa) é considerado, na linguagem vulgar, como o fruto vermelho do morangueiro, da família das rosáceas. No entanto, em termos científicos não se pode considerar um fruto já que é constituído pelo receptáculo da flor original (composta), em volta do qual se dispõem os frutos (as sementes são visíveis sob a forma de grainhas).
O morango jardim foi criado pela primeira vez na Bretanha, no noroeste da França, na década de 1750 por meio de um cruzamento de Fragaria virginiana do leste da América do Norte com a variedade Fragaria chiloensis, que fora trazida do Chile por Amédée-François Frézier em 1714.
Tecnicamente, o morango é um fruto acessório agregado, o que significa que a parte carnuda deriva não do ovário da planta, mas do receptáculo que sustenta os ovários.

"Morango do Nordeste" é uma canção composta em 1987 pela dupla pernambucana Walter de Afogados e Fernando Alves,[1] que fez grande sucesso no final do século XX, sendo sucessivamente regravada por diversos grupos e cantores brasileiros.
A canção foi lançada naquele ano sob o nome "Sonho dos Sonhos". Em 1999, Walter trouxe a canção para Lairton e seus Teclados, que sugeriu o nome "Morango do Nordeste" como novo título da canção. A canção foi incluída no seu álbum de estreia, que também carrega o nome da canção.
