When Mortal Kombat from Midway hit the arcade gaming scene every developer realized that this new arcade fighting game on the block basically printed money...and every developer wanted a piece of the action! Hence the Mortal Kombat clone genre...of which Tattoo Assassins is a member! Judging this game isn't fair as this is a prototype video game as it was never actually released...but that doesn't mean we can't have fun talking about this retro gaming oddity!

So we decided to extend this playlist from 10 games to does it even matter what the count is anymore? lol it's a lot! But doesn't retro gaming deserve it?
Hello and welcome to "The Unported Playlist" - JANKTOBERFEST EDITION
On this episode of Unported Playlist we are taking a look at Tattoo Assassins, a 2D vs fighting game in the same vein as Mortal Kombat! It has fatalities, bad motion capture fighters like MK...and the same sense of humor! Except it was made by Data East...and NOT the Data East that made arcade games and home console retro games...but the Data East pinball division that had never actually developed a video game before. It's video game history in the making!
It will never challenge King of Fighters or Street Fighter for the fighting game throne...and wow is it janky...but it's heart is in the right place! It’s an arcade hidden gem if you like weird.
I played this via MAME emulation as the prototype was dumped and made playable a while ago thanks to people who love video game preservation! Emulators for the win!
