Here's my first impressions video of Everspace a new roguelike space game on steam!
Everspace is absolutely gorgeous. Think elite dangerous level of graphics. However unlike elite dangerous you wont need octopus hands to control the game. Space combat with a keyboard and mouse is surprisingly easy and crisp. As someone who usually plays with a joystick or controller Im a bit shocked to say a 6 degree freedom game like everspace is completely comfortably played with a keyboard and mouse.
There is a FTL style map / sector system. You progress from the start to the inevitable end.
Each death lets you keep a bit of the currency you earn and you can use that to spend on perks and upgrades to your ship to give you a bit more of an edge. Over time these abilities accumulate to give you a pretty big advantage over your original start.
The areas are procedurally generated so each play through feels different and there is enough randomness to keep things spicey.
Currently only 1 ship is available in early access with 2 more planned for the future. Tons of weapons, modules, and upgrades as well.
My one main complaint about Everspace is the price point. Yes its in early access and will eventually end up being worth that $30 price point but atm its a bit of an expensive pill to swallow.
Overall I think the game is quality and is worth playing, you just might want to wait a bit longer for extra features to be added so that $30 price point doesnt feel so punishing.
