My Thoughts on the "If I Had a Nickel for Every Time, I'd Have Two Nickels" joke
I'm sorry, but I just had to vent this out. Everyone has constantly spewed this joke for about 3 years now and I'm honestly kinda sick of it. The whole point of a joke that subverts expectations is that you don't see the punchline coming and think that the one telling the joke is going in a completely different direction than the joke they're actually going in. So when the joke has been constantly abused thousands of times, we can all see the punchline coming from just the first 5 words, so it's not funny anymore. And I know I'm going to sound like a huge jumper to conclusions, but it honestly starts to feel like the people who makes this joke are only making it because they think we won't see the punchline coming even after the millionth time because they think we're stupid. Again, that's probably not the case, but it honestly feels like it.
