We've had a string of nights with nothing but L's, but we've recently recaptured some magic and strung together a couple of wins. Here's the most recent one. Tonight's squad was me, Ronnie, Ricky, Sauce and Rugged. We were facing off against 4 Legends and an AI. Here's a couple of notes from the game.

- Sauce - It's almost time for us to start preparing for 2K23, that means I've had roughly a good part of this year to understand how each of my teammates builds function best. If I'm being completely honest, I still have not figured out what John's build succeeds at and what areas need work. I mean I know how I would want his build to function, but with the meta for bigs changing as frequently as it does, and then the introduction of glitch builds, playing the same Center build for the duration of 2K22 is tough. So it's commendable that Sauce stuck with the build. I can also pin point off the top of my head all the plays that John regularly does to come through from the squad also. The dimes to Joe for the open corner threes and his timely blocks were huge for us in this game. And the constant off ball screens at the perimeter really helped us to get free for open shots. On the defensive end, John staying with the ball after the pick and roll help to dramatically reduce their 3 point shots.

Ricky - Ricky had the AI this game which normally means you are more of a passer than a shooter, and if you do shoot, you really have to be ridiculously open. Lucky for us, Ricky can do this, and do it at a high level. He's actually the most effective at the top of the three point line where his swing passes have the greatest effects. I know the tendency is to make cross court wing to corner passes, but if you don't have the appropriate badges or your timing is even a second off then it becomes an ineffective play. The bonus to Ricky being at the top is that the angle is different, and doesn't get intercepted, so the pass to Ricky is successful, and then the swing pass to the other side when timed right, results in a good shot. Old if the timing is off, Ricky and just pull from the top.

Joe - Joe was our Power Forward for this game, and unfortunately he was undersized for his match up. Normally these means Rugged isn't as rugged, but it's crazy what a change in your jump shot and badges can do. Joe's build can shoot, and I think we always suspected that the shots can be there cause he takes them when we run 2v2 and 3v3, but the change in the shooting base and the badges has made him a knock down shooter. So now the next step is recognizing an open shot versus a contested shot. Luckily for us, Joe hit the open ones and it force the other team's PF to come out and guard him more. I think it's been great to see Joe's overall evolution this season. When he figures out the opportune moments to go from cutting to leaking out for corner threes, we'll be that much better as a team.

Ronnie - He had the hardest match up this game. The SG was definitely their best offensive option and he was probably their best on ball defender. That normally equates to a frustrating time, but Ronnie has the ability to lock up the perimeter when we help to contain his man. And then he's just a hunter on the offensive end. I think the play at 8:44 where Ronnie gets the pass in the interior and then runs out for the corner 3 is something we need to exploit more often especially if Ronnie's defender keys up on how to guard him on the perimeter. I like it cause, it freezes up the two bigs on the inside and makes a psuedo friendly fire screen. It also gives Ronnie the mili-second he needs to get his shot off.
