Fast and Furious may be the go-to car racing franchise, but last year’s Need For Speed is hoping to steal some of its thunder with a planned sequel. Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by the new movie, The Longest Ride in theaters April 10th! Variety reports that Electronic Arts, the maker of the popular video game series, have teamed with the same Chinese partners that helped make Transformers: Age of Extinction to make a sequel to last year’s Need For Speed movie that starred Aaron Paul and Dominic Cooper. Though it would be an English-language film, the deal would have the sequel be shot primarily in China with several Chinese actors attached to star. It’s unclear if any of the original film’s stars, including Paul, would return for part 2. Though the sequel looks like it is set to move forward with hopes of shooting later this year for a possible 2016 release, the deal would require DreamWorks Studios, which currently holds the film rights, to sign off on the project. Need for Speed failed to make much of an impact here in the States, bringing in around $44 million off a budget of $66 million, but it was a big hit overseas earning around $160 million with $66 million of that coming from China alone, its biggest overseas territory.
