[NES/2A03 Cover] WWF War Zone (GB) - Main Theme by Tim Follin
"It's bad form to blame tools, but [Probe's audio engine] IMED was nowhere near as powerful as the amazing engine [Tim Follin] was used to at Software Creations. ("There were actually timing errors in the code, which explained why the note timing and tempo never seemed to be as tight as other game sound tracks of the time.") Still, Tim's incredible talent allowed him to write great music under those limitations."

"[...] We just wrote some tunes on the AW32 and Probe's musician had to convert them. He had our sympathy."

The late '90s were an interesting time for a freelancing Tim Follin's musical output. Separated from the music development tools which helped make him a world-class game musician, there was a period of time when his tunes (that weren't CD Redbook) just didn't have that signature sound he was so renowned for.
Still, even through the IMED's wonky timing and ""arpeggios"" this composition stuck out to me as being peak Tim Follin, and started wondering about what this would sounded like had it been created a little earlier in the decade. I hope you enjoy this new perspective on what is otherwise considered a low point in Tim's career.
