New Youtube Taxes - How You Could Get it Reduced to 0% (Tax Treaty Countries)
On 9th March 2021, Youtube / Google sent out an email to all non-US content creators explaining that from June 2021 taxes will need to be paid on all revenue generated from US viewers, superchats etc. It goes on to explain that if you fail to provide Youtube with the relevant tax information by May 2021, then Youtube has the right to withhold a massive 24% of all your worldwide revenue until the issue is resolved. To be clear, from what I have read, Youtube is asking you to pay a maximum of 30% taxes to the US Government on all your US viewers. So if 50% of your channel is made up of US viewers / US ad revenue then you may end up paying 30% taxes of that 50% of viewers. However, certain countries like the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Korea may be able to get this amount of tax reduced to anything as low as 0% - it varies by country. This is down the tax treaties. In this video, I will explain how you can check and do this.
