There’s been lots of controversy over The Last of Us Part 1 being priced at a whopping $70. Some folks are okay with the price, but many others disagree and think that the game is nothing more than a thinly veiled cash grab. Understandably, the debate around pricing is always at the forefront of any conversation around this game, but that’s really muddied the waters for newcomers who are trying to decide if Part 1 is a worthy way to experience The Last of Us for the first time. Metacritic scores might lead you to believe that this remake is an undeniable downgrade from the original. However, when you start reading reviews, you find that virtually every negative review is centered exclusively around the price, not the quality of the actual remake. So, if you are a newcomer overwhelmed with all of the noise, here’s the deal. The overhauled visuals and added features make Part 1 the new definitive way to experience The Last of Us. This remake is amazing. But The Last of Us is a masterpiece no matter what version you play, and the older versions still provide excellent experiences, at a much lower cost.
