Watch 4n_motorsport cut up an old damaged S55 block. The goal is to show you guys how de-stroking an engine works. Side by side comparison of the standard N/ S5x stroke vs our de-stroked 11K rpm 2.4L billet crank/ rod combo. As you can see the piston travels less distance in the bore. This reduces the volume of the cylinder which directly reduces the displacement without changing the bore diameter. Since the piston now travels less it effectively reduces mean piston speeds and this allows a higher revving engine. There are other changes as well, rod angle, piston acceleration at tdc and bdc and dewell time. Then is another side by side clip of our billet 4340 crank/rod de stroker 2.4L kit vs the stock stroke N5/S5X. In this clip they are perfectly timed together. You will notice how much slower the 2.4L piston accelerates down from TDC. This is due to the increased dwell time effect from the longer connecting rod and shorter stroke. This moves the power band up higher in the rpm range.
