Below are the differences between the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 5T.
I'm only highlighting differences that matter at this stage. Please note, these are not all the differences but enough to help you decide.
DESIGN
OnePlus 6: Unibody, Glass body both sides
OnePlus 5T: Unibody, metal at the back
Real Impact: Significant as the design philosophy is completely different and the phones ergonomically feel very different. There is no way to say which one is better as this is subjective. But the OnePlus 6 will always feel more premium in hand.
DISPLAY SIZE:
OnePlus 6: 6.28 inches
OnePlus 5T: 6.0 inches
Real Impact: Not significant in the long run.
DISPLAY RESOLUTION
OnePlus 6: 1080 x 2280, 83.8% screen to body ratio
OnePlus 5T: 1080 x 2160, 80.0% screen to body ratio
Real Impact: Significant because of the screen to body ratio. The OnePlus 6 looks much more immersive and the experience is a lot better.
OS:
OnePlus 6: Android Oreo 8.1, Oxygen OS 5.1, Upgradable to Android P
OnePlus 5T: Android Oreo 8.1, Oxygen OS 5.1, Not upgradable to Android P
Real Impact: Not significant.
PROCESSOR:
OnePlus 6: Snapdragon 845 (2.8 GHz), 30% faster, 10% more efficient
OnePlus 5T: Snapdragon 835 (2.4 GHz)
Real Impact: Mildly significant. In most day to day activities, you will not realize the difference in the speeds of the two devices.
GPU:
OnePlus 6: Adreno 630
OnePlus 5T: Adreno 540
Real Impact: Mildly significant. Most games that you play on either phones will play extremely smoothly. The OnePlus 6 might launch them a second or 2 faster, but that's about it.
Camera:
OnePlus 6: Dual 16MP (f/1.7, 27mm, 1/2.6", 1.22µm, gyro-EIS, OIS) + 20 MP
OnePlus 5T: 16 MP (f/1.7, 27mm, 1/2.8", 1.12µm, gyro EIS) + 20 MP
Real Impact: Extremely significant in low light conditions and mildly significant in brightly lit conditions. The OnePlus 6 16 MP sensor is 19% larger and hence captures more light in general as compared to the OnePlus 5T. This allows the OnePlus 6 to generate much more stable shots with much less noise and grain. Also, the presence of Optical Image Stabilization in the OnePlus 6 truly allows the device to shoot and deliver smooth videos as compared to the 5T.
Video:
OnePlus 6: 4K @ 60 fps and Slow motion 720p @ 480 fps or 1080p @ 240 fps
OnePlus 5T: 1080p @ 60 fps and no slow motion
