Osmos Automatic Update Bug
The solution to this problem is to turn off multi-threading / hyper threading. Set the affinity in the task manager or use this program I found to set the affinity at launch.

A friend of mine got me Osmos for christmas. I installed it last night. This is what started happening today as I transitioned in to the first of the "Ambient" levels.
I tried recording the behavior with Fraps, but the strangest thing occured - the framerate limiting made all the weird stuff stop happening! But I mean.. I don't have a scrillion Gigs to record every second of my gameplay just so the game will work. Furthermore, if there's an update I think I'd like to have it.
Lastly, my firewall (Sygate) didn't tell me that Osmos ever actually connected to the internet. I gave it full permission anyway, but still this keeps happening.
