They took them down and decided to beat feet before the local cops arrived, managing to avoid capture. The guy they saved told them to meet him at another tavern the next day so he could reward them.

The other person wound up not only feeding them some REALLY good food and stout ale, but gave them another sidequest in regards to delivering a sack of gemstones to Blingdenstone. Furthermore, Spirit discovered news of two Tabaxi that were seen being sold to this one creature and were last seen heading the general direction of the city.

Thier new friend stated he would allow them to stay at the tavern for as long as they needed to and would watch over thier stuff to allay concerns the gold would be stolen if they were to leave it on the boat despite Gracklstugh laws being in place.

The then headed out to meet Hemeth to discuss the issue of the acid-resistant armors he was commissioning for them on thier behalf when a wild two headed Stone Giant smashed through the gates and started going on a rampage. The Super Best Friends managed to kill it but not before it slew Hemeth in its wild thrashing.

Despite fighting being against local laws, thier selfless act of bravery to courageously herd the frightened townsfolk surprised them, not thinking that a bunch of outsiders would come to their rescue and defense. Before he could task the Best Friends what he wanted of, the party was asked an audience by Themberchaud the Red Dragon, the Flamekeeper of Gracklstugh himself, and were summarily brought before the great red dragon.
