Welcome to Over+Rites.
Its a long and in depth discussion of two peoples experiences with a game. We explore general ideas such as what we liked and disliked while also contextualizing our thoughts as they relate to marketing and expectations.
Today, we'll talk about Resident Evil 7. A game that is a sort of reboot of the series. We ask ourselves and each other how the Resident Evil legacy has simultaneously saved itself from obscurity through the use of the RE name while also damning itself by not being Resident Evil enough.
We discuss why we think Jack Baker is terrifying character and why the rest of the game is not.
We also discuss the general state and seeming monotony of modern horror games.
All in all, we're just a bunch of bummers aren't we?
Overall, it succeeds as a horror game, but not as a Resident Evil game. Watch the video to find out why that is.
