17In a pawn race, the player who can give check with their promoted queen usually wins. White to play and win:
1. f7 h2 2. f8=Q h1=Q 3. Qf3+ Kg1 (3... Kh2 4. Qg3#) 4. Qe3+ Kf1 5. Qc1+ Kg2 6. Qd2+ Kf1 7. Qd1+ Kg2 8. Qe2+ Kg1 9. Kg3 and white wins
The final position is applicable to king and queen versus king and rook pawn on the seventh rank as well.
