This game is very old. Found in Egypt in a tomb of a pharaoh. The sticks are the first types of dice. In this game you can never move 4 spaces. Only 0, 1, 2, 3 and 5. There are 30 spaces and 7 pieces each.

The last squares are safe spots to land on, meaning the other player can't land on you and send your piece back off the board. The wave spot however is a chutes and ladders type of spot, or a trap door spot, which sends you back halfway to the middle of the board on the falling icon spot.

Seems that a larger board with a higher number of rolls possible might be fun. It takes around a half hour to play and the constant back and forth at the start gets to be some what tedious, but also adds to the strategy and randomness of it. Luck of the roll and strategy involved.
