These have a fairly unique tuning... Rich, natural tone, with good warmth and solid note weight/density. Nice bass quality and quantity, with bass that doesn't clog the sound up. Fairly clean sounding, but definitely not analytical or extraordinarily detailed/resolving. Very nice sense of spatial depth, which may be the best thing about these.

CONS: The treble is a little bit fatiguing, so these are not the smoothest sound(such as Hook-X, Performer 5, or DM8). The fit/comfort is a little bizarre, which I'd rate either B- or C+. And finally, although the clarity is general good, considering the bass warmth, I really wish there was much more detail and clarity. Interesting sound from Penon(finally...), but not a keeper. For build quality, it's nice overall, but you can clearly see damage on the right hand cable connector at 5:42 in 2 different places. Edit: these also have a significant amount of ear pressure fatigue, so you can't increase the volume much without them feeling too loud, unlike Hook-X HBB, which shines in comparison to these, pressure-wise.
