Perfect Dark N64 - Longplay - No HUD / Music (4K 60FPS)
348Perfect Dark longplay with the music disabled so it's possible to appreciate all the care that went into the ambient sounds. The game can feel completely different this way and that's something I really enjoy. Some levels have much better ambience than others however, and the contrast between them sometimes may be jarring - but I think overall it's really something worth appreciating. Even when a level has no background noise the gameplay itself creates it with footsteps, bullet casings, broken lights and so on.
All the levels are seamlessly edited together from cutscene to cutscene. Bonus levels not included because in the context of this video, they don't offer anything new and are just less polished. For example, in Mr. Blonde's Revenge the ambience sounds won't play until you reach the rooftop, Maian SOS is fine, and then WAR! is kind of a boring bonus level.
Cutscenes are modded to remove the music, as by default lowering the music slider won't affect cutscenes. This is because the sound effects and music are included in the same .midi file for them.
