Persona 5 Rivers in the Desert GBA test
This is a mockup for how Rivers in the Desert will sound in my Pokémon x SMT GBA fangame lol. Not totally representative of what it'll actually sound like, but it's close enough. Expect more noise and a bit more aliasing.
MIDI and soundfont are sourced from this video: https://youtu.be/yEi_E2_mEq4
Using Foobar2000's blessed convert feature, it was resampled to 10512hz, then once again resampled to 21024hz (the mix rate I decided on) using the zero-order-hold method. I believe this is what's used on the GBA due to being the most inexpensive algorithm possible, and is the culprit behind that distinct crunchy sound of the GBA and DS. The final step was to crush it to 8-bit PCM, as this is what's used for all audio on the GBA with a couple exceptions (like Game Freak's custom DPCM Pokémon cry algorithm).
Vocals are played back straight as a mono 21024hz track with reverb. Lyn will most definitely sound a little crunchier in practice, and need to be crushed to 8-bit PCM as well. To not make the video TOO noisy, and because I don't know the exact behavior of the custom mixer I'll be using, I left them at 16-bit lol
The good thing here is that many lyrics are repeated, so significant storage can be saved.
