A quick update on my recent stall. FULL EXPLANATION BELOW:

So originally back before even the casting call had completed, I had originally planned to use the character sprites from the "HD" release of PW:AA, i.e; the ones from the iOS release of the game. You can even see this intent in the original cast announcement trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5nv8GlaO6Y)

However when the associated voice talent started submitting their audio I suddenly found myself wondering if I could find or make higher resolution art/sprites for the characters to try and make the project look a little better since the art from the HD version is, honestly, kind of slap-dash and ugly.

So I tried seeing if there were any clean rips of the PC version since that art looked so much cleaner and the higher resolution would be better to work with in general(bear in mind this was roughly 3 months after the PC release came out)

Unfortunately there was no such thing. So I ended up recording game play and using my editing software to export individual frames of animation which I would then edit the backgrounds out of and occasionally do bad paint-over jobs on the sprites of which I couldn't get clean shots.

This was the process I went through for every single character in the project and while it was time consuming, I definitely think it was worth the extra effort.

Due to the holidays, continued pandemic issues, and life in general; audio for a character was delayed for part six of Turnabout Samurai and most of Turnabout Goodbyes.

During this time- I focused on doing what editing I could for Turnabout Goodbyes which lead me on a chase to find a reference sheet or clean rip of Polly the parrot's sprites which I found along with surprisingly high quality Edgeworth, Wright, Ema Skye, and Manfred von Karma reference sheets.

As I looked into these sheets I found a link to the internal files of the PC release: neat, but not especially useful without knowing where to look in them.

And then I got lucky.

Someone else was kind enough to mention where the actual art was among these files and I found reference sheets for literally every character in PW:AA and even the next two games as well.

Since then I spent some time copying, cutting, pasting, and generally Frankenstein-ing the new art together to create new sprites with higher resolution, better coloration, cleaner lines, and most notably: wasn't cut off at inconvenient points.

Some instances of older art and sprites will still appear in Turnabout Goodbyes, but everything for Rise From the Ashes has been updated and will be edited with the new assets!

Once I get the last files I need, I'll get Goodbyes finished and probably be releasing two episodes a week for that case to make up for lost time.

After that, Rise From the Ashes will be released as quickly as I can get episodes edited together (part 1 is already rendered!)
