Pigeons must keep their feathers clean because they only renew them twice a year. They especially like water. This one can stay in the bath for 10 minutes, it takes 1 hour then to get clean, but the pigeon can fly immediatly, the bird is just heavier for a moment. That's why they go in the water all at once to secure the area, this one won't stay in the water if I don't stay near it, the sound of water is also important, they check water with their beak before anything. A wet pigeon smells like chalk powder and rock, this is due to the protective layer they put on their feathers.
