Playing Diablo II for the First Time ・ Part 21 ─ HELL Mode Ep. 7 ─ Act 5
5That's right. I've never played Diablo 2 or any of the Diablo games for that matter. Part of the reason for it is that when I was growing up as a kid, we didn't have a PC capable of running the game and by the time I did get a decent PC, D2 was already considered an old game. But to be fair, Diablo was never the type of game to interest me that much since I tend to dislike the isometric perspective.
I did eventually play Path of Exile 1, mostly due to word of mouth of how crazy its passive tree and skill system was, and from there, I started steadily getting into more and more ARPGs, trying out Last Epoch, and of course PoE2. However, it seems that no matter where I go, there's a shadow that looms over the ARPG industry, and that shadow is none other than Diablo II. So I figured why not try it now while we wait for Path of Exile 2's 0.3 league launch. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up wanting to play D2 more than PoE2.
This will be my first experience playing Diablo 2, and I intend to go through it as blind as possible. Because I got the game on mega sale, I will be playing on a PS5, though I've also played PoE2 on console, so hopefully any comparisons between the two won't feel too unfair.
