In this video we'll be tackling if the Playstation 4 Pro / PS4 Pro is worth purchasing, the performance of the console, the different rendering modes, checkerboard rendering, GPU performance, the PS4 Pro's launch date and pricing and how it compares to Microsoft's Project Scorpio.,
The Playstation 4 Pro will see a release Novemeber 10th, 2016 for the princely sum of $399.99 or £349.99. The Pro will include the slightly tweaked and update DualShock 4 controller (as found in the PS4 Slim) and , faster Wifi connection thanks to the IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/a adapter and the addition of a third USB 3.1 port. For storage Sony have opted to go for 1TB of space, which has led to some folks criticize the console for lack of storage. The decision was likely made for cost cutting purposes, and shouldn’t be difficult to simply install a different drive, as you’ve been able to in previous PS4 models.
Unlike the Xbox One S, Sony have made the fairly baffling choice of omitting a 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray drive, despite their company being the holder of the patent. While Sony’s Andrew House has said this is due to their users primarily watching content via streaming, it’s probably another cost cutting measure, pushing the console under that all important 400 dollar threshold. For those wanting to grab a cheap 4K blu ray player, it’s a shame, and if Microsoft can manage to add it into the scorpio (cost being the only thing preventing it) it’ll be a nice feature for Microsoft to tout over Sony.
It’s imperative to know there won’t be a specific ‘version’ of the game you need to buy for the Pro, all PS4 games will work across both systems. But, with that said, there will be some titles which will be patched or new games which will be launched support the PS4 Pro’s improved visual capability. Hardware will also be the same – with the Pro being fully compatible with current PS4 peripherals, for example.
