The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a gaming console designed for home entertainment and developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. In April 2019, it was introduced as the successor to the PlayStation 4. The PS5 was initially launched on November 12, 2020, in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, North America, and South Korea, followed by a worldwide release one week later. The standard PS5 model includes an optical disc drive that supports Ultra HD Blu-ray discs.
