Playstation One Weekend One Off: Intelligent Qube (PS ONE,1997): Stage One & Two.
A friend of mine asked me what were my top 5 PS ONE games of all time. We got to talking and judging by his reaction, Id say I left him kinda confused. The reason was that my list comprised of mostly games which he (a self confessed gamer like me) never heard of before. And, number three on my list was this little doozy of an underrated PS One puzzle game.
I Q (or Intelligent Qube AKA Kurushi in Europe) was developed by G-Artists and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 1997.
The player assumes the role of Elliot. Basically, its a block game, where you try to clear as many rows of blocks as you can before they fall of the platform edge. Failing to do so, will result in an area of the platform falling away, leaving Elliot little room to maneuver. The game is over when Elliot falls off the platform. In later stages, block row waves come faster and in larger groups as well as other mechanics (forbidden blocks). Eeek!.
Here, I play through Stages One and Two (On a good day, I can get as far as Stage 8..not today though hehe).
On the surface, this game may look graphically uninspiring and simple, but, as a puzzle game, it is sooo addictive once you get the hang of it. The music is also decent (Stage Two is my favorite). A definite highly recommended for PS One puzzle game fans.
