It’s that time of the month again! The PlayStation Plus games for September 2016 have been announced.
This month is an absolute cracker containing 6 games. 2 for PS4, 2 for Ps3 and 2 for the vita as well. We have discovery, action role playing games, a side scroller, platformers and an interactive novel this month. Lets start off with the big guns on PS4…
Journey is the pick of the bunch and is an absolutely phenomenal game first released in 2012. This short but captivating game has a single goal… reach the angelic light atop of the mountain over yonder. You can stumble across other players in the game but you cannot control who those people are or communicate other than the occasional tweep. I really don’t want to spoil this game as it is so short but I beg you to play this game, it’ll be an awesome 2-3 hours.
Next up it is Lords of the Fallen first released in 2014. This is a Dark Souls-esque encounter in which you will die… a lot. The loot chest and customizable elements resemble Diablo. The challenges grow in difficulty and the bosses do push you to think past button bashing your way to god hood. The metacrtic score of 68 is surprisingly low with gamespot scoring the bloodbath 8/10.
Over to the PS3 and our first offering is Prince of Persia: The forgotten Sands. The game is based around the ability to reverse time as you acrobatically platform through the game. As the game ramps up the ability to freeze water and rebuild former structures helps this game stand apart from its predecessors and overall this is a fun game which helps you reminisce about yesteryear. Current metacritic 75 out of 100.
The next offering on PS3 is Datura an intriguing and well presented game which is ultimately letdown by the gameplay which is infuriating and at best, mudled. The storyline is interesting but I don’t recommend playing this one.
Over to the PS vita for Badland which in fact is a cross play game so if you don’t have a Vita use your PS4 or PS3 for this one. Badland is essentially a mobile phone game which plays like Locoroco. It’s a super simple obstacle course which it extremely repetitive but for a five minute jaunt it hits is stride.
Finally, Amnesia Memories rounds out this month’s options. This one is a visual novel in which you participate in 4 storylines. If storylines and getting to know your character are key elements when you are gaming, this may be the one for you. Push square gave this one 8/10
