Step it up is the first of many different varieties in the minigame mode.

Well, technically "Free for all" is the first, but there you can just pick whatever minigame you want and play it.

In Step it up, the goal is to reach the top of the stairs, and you are allowed to move up on them whenever you win a minigame.
So it's basically "Who wins 3/5/7 minigames first?"
