"Beauty Queens" is a satirical young adult novel by Libba Bray, first published in 2011. The story follows a group of teenage beauty pageant contestants who survive a plane crash on a deserted island. Stranded without adult supervision, the girls must band together and use their various skills and talents to survive. As they struggle to find food, water, and shelter, the girls begin to question the messages of beauty and femininity that they have been taught throughout their lives. Along the way, they encounter a group of eco-terrorists, a secret underground lair, and a reality TV crew, all while learning important lessons about themselves and each other. The novel uses humor and satire to explore themes of gender roles, beauty standards, consumer culture, and the media.
