Part 4 of my latest playthrough series of Pokémon Ruby Version. This is not a first time playthrough. I last played the full game a long time ago and wanted to play it again. I am playing the game to fully explore it and catch as many Pokémon as possible. No audio commentary. Full and uncut to give a feeling of a live experience. The videos in this series are like a longplay, but not in one single video. The series is done in separate parts because a single video would be too long/large for me, and YouTube limits the features of videos after a certain length.

Here are the video editing steps and equipment I used to make the videos in this playthrough series:

Video game hardware: Nintendo GameCube, GCHD Mk-II, HDMI cable, Game Boy Player with official software. Recorded at 480p.

Video capture device: Elgato Game Capture HD
Video and audio recording program: OBS Studio
Video editing programs: Avidemux

Software steps: The video was recorded with a canvas of 720x480, but the video feed for this game was resized to 666x480 on that canvas to be a similar aspect ratio to the game’s native display. The dimensions of said video file were then multiplied by 2, borders were added to the top and bottom of the video, and bigger borders were added to the left and right of the video. I chose to leave the Game Boy Player presentation as it was recorded and not isolate the game image for the final video because the final video becomes too blurry. The original file was recorded at a low quality, which makes the video in the file unclear when the game image’s size is increased.

I explore a lot of Hoenn in this video, searching to get items and battling trainers in the west. I get the fifth Gym Badge and team up with a new Pokémon too.
