There is surprisingly little to talk about from the anime representation of erika, and I forgot to mention about the terrible smell that Gloom had. Never comes into play, unless the acid is supposedly the representation. That's the only thing that episode has going for it though, its one of the weaker episodes, especially for a gym leader.

Erika in the games is either on acid or on some spores, sleep powders, or aromatherapy.

Got past my real obstacle, Doduo and Dratini, thanks to pidgeotto being an inferior bird (aka, a bird without a solid one turn flying move), tangela's miraculous tradeback move, and defenses. Yes, doduo gives this team problems because it is among the very best fully unevolved pokemon statwise.

Surprisingly didn't have as much trouble with the female Cooltrainer, even though they are the elite trainer types in the series (until veterans came in) and are notoriously difficult in Stadium 1 (but notoriously pathetic in Stadium 2).
