Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera with Android demo - CES 2012
Link: http://www.smartkeitai.com/polaroid-sc1630-smart-camera-with-android-video-demo/ Polaroid introduced an interesting new product at CES 2012 in Las Vegas the other week. The Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera is a digital camera that's powered by Android. That's right, it's a camera first, Android device second. The front looks like a standard 16 megapixel camera with built in 3X optical zoom, but when you flip it over and turn on the 3.2-inch touchscreen display you're greeted with the Android operating system in all its glory. It also has WiFi functionality and there's talk of a cellular radio as well. Unfortunately, as you'll see in the video, the software is a bit buggy and it seems to be powered by underwhelming specs. This one is due out later this year.
UPDATE: Polaroid will announce a new Android-powered, interchangeable lens camera at CES 2013. The IM1836 is rumored with a mirrorless design, 18 megapixel sensor, 3.5-inch touchscreen and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
