Primal Rage 2 Arcade - First Battle with Arik!
Taking a look at Atari's long lost Primal Rage 2! This game was never officially released to arcades as Atari had originally planned. Many speculate the game was cancelled during development in early 1996 due to Atari feeling it wouldn't produce the level of sales they had first anticipated. Without a doubt, the American arcades were heavy on the decline half way through the 1990's, as consumers turned more of their attention to home gaming consoles, and spent less time at the classic arcades. There were very few original arcade cabinets of this game ever built, and today it remains a rarity.

The game's characters had a similar look and feel to the old school Clay Fighter games, where they looked realistic, but only to a point. Primal Rage 2 was also a lot different from the original game, where the game's central characters were now humans known as the Avatars. Each of the Avatars had the ability to transform back into one of the prehistoric beasts from the original game.
We played in our first battle here with Arik, who transforms into the prehistoric dinosaur character Sauron during battle.
What made this game so cool was the fact you technically play as 2 different characters throughout each fight, beginning with an Avatar that then transforms into a beast.
