An interesting experiment I gotta say!
Since GBA PrBoom doesn't use the distance fog, I thought I would have a crack at messing with tinted colormaps (well coloured lighting).
How was this done?
I've added 4 extra lanes of colour to the end of the colormap lump in the GBA WAD, each new lane has it's own tinted colour (yellow, blue, green and red).
I then hardcoded the game to use forcibly those extra 4 colour palettes when the map sector lighting is set specifically to 0-3. All blinking lights and whatever ignore using those particular 4 light levels.
Doom for some reason can have a sector light level all the from 0 to 255, even though by default there are only 32 brightness levels defined in the colormap lump.

Of course the game engine (and GBA) are still limited to 8-bit colour so only so much can be done with tinting, Doom never had much blue colours in it's PLAYPAL palette to begin with so the blue sector lighting looks pretty bad. With some fine tuning it could probably turn out ok though.
If there's enough interest, I could probably make this it's own thing.
