This vlog style video was a bit of an experiment for me - I wanted to see what I could gather at a convention on my own. I walked away with a product I am excited to share with my community - but more importantly, I walked away with a lot of lessons learned for the next convention!
- I need more footage - despite feeling like I filmed constantly I did not vlog enough for this video. I should have introduced each game, talked more about the convention space as a whole, and lead the viewer across the multiple days.
- I need more establishing shots - one weakness in my own style of filming is that I get a lack of establishing footage. I like to stay on a 35mm however that is to tight for some of the wide convention hall shots I want.
- I need to bring a second tripod - this will allow me to conduct or be a part of the booth conversations.
- I should have vlogged an intro into every game I showed and why I was including it. I avoided this due to being tired and shy - I can’t let those things stop me next time.
- I should have vlogged more in the evenings - there is a balance between doing it too much for the people you are with and not enough for your content.
- I need a second set of mics - both for backup and also so I can be included more in the video.
- I should have filmed a narrative to the story there at the convention hall.
