Game Review & Impressions
---------------------------------------------------
R-Shark doesn't do much to set itself apart from other shmups, but it's a perfectly serviceable game, with good presentation, robust controls, plus a surprisingly large number of stages.

Kicking off the game, you're presented with a 'Wanted' board depicting some of the worst intergalactic scum and villainy this side of the cosmos. Simply choose a bad guy, then blast your way through waves of enemy fighters and capital ships, before facing off against the boss in their kitted out battle cruiser of death.

The game implements a traditional power-up scheme involving collecting various tokens to change weapons, ship speed, as well as top up the number of special attacks you can launch; these are particularly rare, and you'll be luck to see more than 1 per level.

Collecting the numbered tokens left by defeated enemies will change your craft's primary and special weapons. My personal favourite, and the one I used throughout most of the game, is weapon 2, which hammers the enemy with beams of energy. The fact the beam continues to fire after pressing the button means your fingers don't get quite so tired hitting the fire button, and the special attack is pretty potent as well.

For 1995 I guess R-Shark feels a little bit retro, what with 3D setting the standard for arcade games back then, but it's a dent shooter that's fun to play, and it certainly looks the part. If you enjoy these games, this one will be right up your alley.
