Read Only Memories (ROM): review
Read Only Memories is a non-traditional cross between a point and click adventure and a virtual novel that has a devout focuses on unique characters in a wonderfully imagined cyberpunk San Francisco. This indie game was produced by MidBoss (Matt Conn) and directed John James. Read Only Memories (ROM) is set in a future where LGBT members are not only accepted but the normal in everyday life, wilts also not pigeonholing said characters into a specific “queer” caricature. The narrative is a quite well produced, giving you a detective mystery/thriller that is well paced and full of interesting topics such as; genetic modifications, cybernetic humans, butler robots and Painter AIs. The game’s mechanics can be poor and you may have a hard time selecting items in rare situations. Some puzzles need further explanation than what is presented. ROM over all is a grate narrative and worth picking up if you’re interested in cyberpunk and or delightfully well-made characters.
