This speed run uses no tricks and barely makes it under 4 minutes. It shows how to simply go from one block to the next. With that in mind, here's some way to trim down the time even more.

1. At the very start, if you jump while the first set of platform has almost surfaced, you'll get the jump boost that normally occurs with the yellow blocks and you should be able to land on the first button immediately.
2. All pipes are slow except for the two consecutive pipes in a row. So you can skip all the pipes besides that one.
3. When using raising platforms, try to time your jumps so that the top of your jump is about the height as the platform. Excessive airtime kills time.
4. Make sure you play enough so that you're familiar with the location of the next button(s). That's the main requirement to lowering your time. Then make sure you know how to get to each button.
5. Finally, if you can remember which button comes next, you can actually skip various obstacles by jumping ahead of time and landing on the target.
