2Welcome to my let's play series on Rimworld Alpha 16 - a colony simulator by Tynan Sylvester and Ludeon Studios!
In Rimworld you are tasked with helping 3 survivors from a crashed space liner survive and thrive on a frontier world at the rim of known space. The world, colonists and encounters are all randomly generated and along with the AI storyteller you are given excellent replay value which ensures no 2 games will ever play out the same! Failing in this game much like Dwarf Fortress can be as fun as managing to get all you colonists off the world in the climactic space shuttle launch... It's all about the story!
In this episode things ramp up quickly! Whilst waiting for the 2 caravans to arrive we have a poison ship fall to the south and a siege to the north! Sadly, we don't have either the man power or the skill necessary to be able to deal with them all but we don't have enough space to take everyone on the ship! Who survives?!

RimWorld is a sci-fi colony sim driven by an intelligent AI storyteller. Inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Firefly, and Dune.
You begin with three survivors of a shipwreck on a distant world.
Manage colonists' moods, needs, wounds, and illnesses.
Fashion structures, weapons, and apparel from metal, wood, stone, cloth, or futuristic materials.
Tame and train cute pets, productive farm animals, and deadly attack beasts.
Watch colonists develop and break relationships with family members, lovers, and spouses.
Fight pirate raiders, hostile tribes, rampaging animals, giant tunnelling insects and ancient killing machines.
Trade with passing ships and trade caravans.
Capture refugees or prisoners and turn them to your side OR sell them into slavery!
RimWorld is a story generator. It’s designed to co-author tragic, twisted, and triumphant stories about imprisoned pirates, desperate colonists, starvation and survival. There are several storytellers to choose from. Randy Random does crazy stuff, Cassandra Classic goes for rising tension, and Phoebe Chillax likes to relax.
Each person’s background is tracked and affects how they play. A nobleman will be great at social skills but refuse to do physical work. A farm oaf knows how to grow food by long experience, but cannot do research. A nerdy scientist is great at research, but cannot do social tasks at all. An assassin can do nothing but kill – but they does it very well!
Colonists develop - and destroy - relationships. Each has an opinion of the others, which determines whether they'll become lovers, marry, cheat, or fight.
You can tame and train animals. Pets will cheer up sad colonists. Farm animals can be worked, milked, and sheared. Attack beasts can be set upon your enemies!
Wounds, infections, prosthetics, and chronic conditions are tracked on each body part and affect characters' capacities. Eye injuries make it hard to shoot or do surgery. Wounded legs slow people down. Hands, brain, mouth, heart, liver, kidneys, stomach, feet, fingers, toes, and more can all be wounded, diseased, or missing, and all have logical in-game effects.

A Spherical planet!
World map is now modeled as a sphere covered with hexagons (and a few pentagons).
Caravans!
Player can now gather up groups of colonists, prisoners, and animals, and form caravans to travel across the world surface.
Caravans can visit other faction bases and trade with them or attack them.
Caravans can settle and form new colonies too!
Travel victory!
New game ending: A friendly person offers a ship, but it is distant, across the world map. If you travel there, you can escape the planet and complete the game!
Transport pods!
You can build transport pod launchers and transport pods. These let you launch their contents long distances across the world map, over oceans or mountains.
Pods can be targeted on enemy bases, where you can perform "drop-in" raids and drop right on top of the base, or drop outside it - just like raiders do to you!
Drugs and health!
Drug rebalance. Increase drug addictiveness in general. Drugs can now damage the body in various ways.
There is now a random chance of a overdose when taking drugs, even if just taking one dose.
